Electric Smart Cars
Electric Smart cars are manufactured by Smart GmbH which was earlier known as MCC Smart GmbH. It is an automotive brand of Daimler AG and manufacturers microcars and supermini cars. It has come out with two latest models of electric car.
1. The Smart EV is an environment-friendly electric smart car. It is powered solely by electricity and can achieve nearly 300 mpg and saves 80% fuel cost as compared to smart fortwo gasoline model. It runs for 70 miles between charges and takes abut 5 hours to charge. It has electric motor of 41 hp. This car completely eliminates exhaust fumes and carbon-dioxide emission providing clean and energy-efficient car thus helping in reducing vehicular pollution.
Its small size helps in parking in a congested parking lot of cities. It is just 2.5m in length and 1.45m in width. The other features of smart fortwo has been maintained including safety features and stable driving experience, such as ABS brakes, ESP, 4 airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners.
2. Smart ED: Developed by Daimler, it is an all-electric car that was introduced at the Paris Motor Show. It travels for 90 miles without recharging of batteries. With no tailpipe emission of carbon-dioxide, it is the most environment-friendly car so far with zero emission.
Its torque is 75bhp / 89lb ft and it has single speed automatic transmission. The battery charging time is 8 hours and the battery is high-performance, high-temperature battery made from environmentally compatible sodium-nickel-chloride. The maximum speed of car is approximately 112 km/h.
